As a student Hannah Mae Mehler developed an interdisciplinary performance practice that let female characters tell their individual stories by means of classical songs and spoken text. In her first production in 2017, she interwove texts by Bertolt Brecht with songs by Kurt Weill, Paul Dessau and Hans Eisler to create a story. “A Tainted Evening" was performed in various bars in Zurich. Her second production, “Are you Asleep, my Darling?,“ was created in 2019 using somber atmospheric means to combine the music of Gustav Mahler, Othmar Schoeck and Richard Strauss with literary and documentary material. A coherent composition was formed which subsequently allowed the audience to experience the main character's torment.
Nebst ihrer solistischen Konzerttätigkeit ist Hannah Mae Mehler Mitglied der Zürcher Sing-Akademie unter der künstlerischen Leitung von Florian Helgath. Mit dem international renommierten Vokalensemble und Konzertchor trat sie in Berlin, Bukarest, Freiburg, Genf, Helsinki, London, Paris, Turin und Zürich auf und arbeitete dabei mit Dirigenten wie Pablo Heras-Casado, Aapo Häkkinen, René Jacobs, Paavo Järvi, Kent Nagano und Trevor Pinnock.
